Clear Lake tournament was another learning experience for me. Third day was very interesting that I caught more fish on swim baits but they were only 3 pounders! Weather was getting better and the morning was warmer, so I guess more male fish were cruising shallow water. I noticed that slower retrieving triggered more strikes than faster moving baits. Fish were biting better in deeper water in the morning, then after 9-10 o’clock, they started to swim around shallower water by tulies. I used Jackall Flick shake 4.8 and 5.8 in watermelon and green pumpkin color with drop shot in the morning. I was fishing in high pressured area with other competitors, so this worked very well. Then I switched to swimbaits like Ammonite Shad, Swimming Ninja and other shad tail type lures. It was interesting to see that fish prefered different lures and colors each day, so it was important to have a few different lures on the deck all the time.
Well, I started driving to Alabama. It is a long way, but I love the scenery on the way.

I was fortunate to get checks at both California Delta and Clear lake tournaments this time. I have learned many things again each day on the water. Now I am going to Alabama and get ready for the next tournament. Oh, I will stop by at my frined’s place on the way!!
I will show you my equipment that I used at Clear lake tournament soon.
